Online sports coverage

I am officially sick of ESPN.com. Too many ads, too many “Insider only” headlines. I don’t know of any good sports sites (except for collegefootballnews.com, which isn’t bad, but I need broad coverage of American sports.) Where do you get your online sports coverage? And what do you like about it?

I go to ESPN.com, CNNSI.com and CBS.Sportsline.com. Unless one of them is pissing me off because of pop-up ads or something, I don’t give any one of them a lot of preference over the other two.

That’s a good list, however, it is SI.com now :D. Though cnnsi.com takes you to the same place ;). I should look at CBS Sportsline more, since I really like their coverage, but for some reason I forget to go there and use ESPN and SI much more often.

I use Yahoo Sports a lot, just because it’s easy to get to.

Wow, I hadn’t noticed that! I had long known that ESPN.com is technically ESPN.go.com (although I can’t imagine anyone on the planet who could give two shits whether or not the site is part of the GO network), but this is new to me. I wonder how long it’s been that way.

ESPN.com’s been part of the GO network for several years now.

I’m with you on ESPN.com, though. I used to love that site, it was great. It had all the stats you needed right there, with lots of great columnists and good coverage. Now, everything’s Insider, and they keep making the interface fancier and fancier to the point where it’s nearly impossible now because everything takes so freaking long to load. Not to mention crap like ESPN Motion. If I wanted to watch TV, I’d freaking watch TV.

I only go back nowadays to read Bill Simmon’s columns, and to occasionally look up some stats or standings.

My post, now that I look at it, is kind of ambiguous. I meant that I didn’t know how long it had been since CNNSI.com became SI.com.
