Only Murders in the Building

Same. Given that the episodes tend to be 35-40 minutes (IIRC), it doesn’t take that long to watch the entire season.

I usually wait, too; I’ve just been looking forward to the new season. I guess I can hang in there for another 6-8 weeks.

I like watching week-to-week. Gives me something to look forward to, and there’s little enough decent TV on now, and for the foreseeable, so I will stretch it out as long as I can feasibly manage. I may even wait till the weekend before watching ep 2.

Me too. I also enjoy that week to week allows weekly “water cooler” conversations, even if they be in social media contexts like here.

Which brings up … open spoilers?

I haven’t watched yet but will fairly soon …

First episode is off to a great start.

Mrs. solost and I couldn’t resist watching the first two eps last night. Paul Rudd is great playing a douchey egotistical version of himself-- an actor with a superhero franchise who is slumming in a Broadway play.

Meryl Streep is also fun to watch playing pretty much the opposite of a version of herself- an actor who never had much success and existed on the periphery of the biz all her life, until she finally gets her ‘big break’ in Charles’ play.

Meryl Streep did it! No wait, it was that producer lady! Or her son. Or Steve Martin’s lady friend - I never trusted Andrea Martin, plus Steve always has bad luck with women! Or it was a cookie baker - remember, Ben can’t resist them. Or maybe Ben’s brother did it - I mean, there’s got to be a jealousy factor, and of course the guy who’s supposed to protect Ben has got to be suspicious! Wow, I’m so not sure. I know, the elevator company. What do we even know about them? Who hired them anyway? Oh, that nasty woman building manager maybe? No, I bet it’s Oliver - nobody suspects Martin Short, and it’s his turn. No, if he’s going to kill someone it will be the critic who trashed his show. Maybe it’s Broadway, they don’t want Oliver to succeed. I can’t decide.

Just popped in to say I’ll see you later. Modern TV has ruined the way I watch things. I won’t start it until there are a few episodes posted.

How many is a few (to you). The first two are already available to watch.

She was so good at being bad. I bet it was really hard to act badly when you’re not a bad actor. She wasn’t in the second episode; I hope she returns.

I would imagine she has seen so many bad actors in her time, she had a lot of examples to draw from. What makes her great is her authenticity.

Since I’ll be on vacation next week with no access, there will probably be 4 before we start watching.

Wow, bringing in a high calibre actress sure does tangibly elevate everything.

Well, almost everything.

I feel the same about him. The difference now is that he’s sorta playing himself (actually just a blend of past personae nimis-dramatae) and being treated appropriately for such a character. So I’ll keep watching the series, if for no other reason than the limited options available during the writer’s strike.

You know, it occurs to me that Steve Martin and Martin Short were together previously in The Three Amigos. “Everybody has their El Gaupo.” Forgive me if this has already been mentioned. Just started watching the first season and wanted to avoid spoilers for S2 and S3. I found the no-talking episode quite interesting if just for a different approach.

If you weren’t already aware, it’s worth noting that the actor who plays Theo is deaf in real life.

I was waiting for someone on the show to respond to Martin Short when he was describing the musical Little Shop of Horrors, something along the lines of how bad the actor playing the dentist was. Crickets.

I’m really enjoying Martin Short in this, because like @TriPolar mentioned, he’s not playing one of his over-the-top characters. He outshines Steve Martin in every scene that they share.

We started watching this, despite my resistance, as I really didn’t like the previous seasons and can’t stand Ariana Grande’s acting or her nasal intonations. But this isn’t going badly. Streep is a really good catch, and Short is carrying most of the scenes, as usual.

Sure. But how did you like Selena Gomez?
