Ontario provincial election: The Return of Ford Nation, Part II

Keep in mind that the early 90’s recession is what put the final nails in the coffin of the Mulroney government as well. It had no respect for partisan ideology.

Unintentioned selective memory on my part. That’s what I get for not checking the data before posting.

There is an article in today’s Globe and Mail that suggests the Ontario Liberals sold off OLG’s Toronto casinos for the amount of profit they make in one year. If this is so, I’m wondering why this is not bigger news — the government does not have a great record with regard to orivitizing public assets, and could have sold it for eight times more.

Who cares about that? Look over there! Racists!

Just which Ontario voters here do not care about that? <crickets>

I have no great love for the Liberals’ shameless political pandering, but the idea that Doug Ford is the perfect antidote to shameless political pandering is tough to swallow. But at least he comes with $6 billion in mystery money for funding his platform.

I’m really hard-pressed to figure out who to vote for in my riding. I thought about voting for the Green Party (to help them reach the necessary funding threshold). I looked up the biography of the Green candidate in my riding and it says she is a supporter of LGBTQQIP2SAA issues. I thought I was as progressive as the next guy, but frankly I only support LGBTQQIP2SA issues, so I guess that makes me a bigot.

In my riding, the Liberals are basically the only game in town. I’ll vote for them anyway just in case things go hinky. F I didn’t think it was throwing my vote away I’d go NDP.

LMAO!

I thought you moved to the States?

Not that I’m cyber-stalking you or anything.

I moved back a little before Christmas just in time for the inaugural Artic Cyclone Winter event.

Whatever plan Ford has… he needs to 180 it. The tories are on track to losing a “slam dunk.” If Ford waits until the PC’s are polling in 2nd before he changes his party’s campaign tactics he/they will be a bigger idiot(s) then I’ve ever imagined.

To be fair to Ford, the PCs have shown a remarkable ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory before.

This is my first Ontario election, but not bothering to publish a platform is certainly a new one for me.

I really hope Ford loses. Not because I have anything against him or the Ontario PC party in particular, but the way he’s run the campaign is not what I like to see in Canadian politics. If he loses, what should have been a gimme win, it will be a stern warning to all parties across Canada not to run campaigns this way. I will be very proud of Ontario if they reject this.

Don’t worry, he’s still got a lot of time to do and say much, much worse.

And you just know he’s gonna.

Vice article: HERE’S HOW THE LIBERALS, NDP AND PCS WANT TO SPEND YOUR MONEY

However, they seem to be winning it for the NDP. Those poll numbers are starting to look real, and not just a fluke.

This is a little different, because it looks like th NDP is stealing numbers directly from the PCs at the moment, but I’m always leary of their polling numbers. At least in federal elections I get the feel a lot of “mad as hell” people answer NDP in polls but don’t follow through.

Yeah, it’s still not certain, but in looking at what the PC numbers were before the election…it’s definitely interesting. If the PCs do lose, it will all be down to their decision to elect the worst available candidate as their leader. They had it in the bag, and may have just thrown it all away for nothing.

Well, they keep having to revise the draft after every time Ford opens his mouth.
