OP requests

Not the same thing. Maybe if someone said “don’t post anymore until you read the OP”.

…it would still look like junior modding to me.

Personally I suspect some of the moderators have a sort of Napoleon Complex, compensating for their lowly status and the lack of respect they get IRL by strutting their mod status here. (One guy in particular is almost a caricature, but I doubt if he’s the only one.)

Really? “Did you read the OP?” is junior mod’ing? How about “Did you read your own cite?” If so, there are a lot of un-issued warnings out there!!!

It’s nice that we go back and quote directly.
How about the order(not question) you actually stated:

.

OK, now I’m confused. Of course I think that is junior mod’ing-- that’s why I posted it as an example of same. By using “still” I assumed you were saying even the example in Grrr’s post was jr mod’ing, which I disagree with.

So, let’s start over. Which of these do you think is junior mod’ing:

  1. “Did you even read the OP?”

  2. “Don’t post anymore until you read the OP”

Looks liked crossed-wires here, sorry. #2 is JMing, IMHO. Perhaps #1, if repeated often enough by the same poster.

Moderator Note

Let’s not derail this thread by hurling insults at the moderators. If you have something constructive or something relevant to the discussion to add, please do so. Just expressing your low opinion of the staff here isn’t helpful at all.

The topic here is junior modding and/or the moderation (or lack thereof) of insults directed at posters. Please stick to that.

I think in my thread it was very important to stick to the OP, and not attack those who had the guts to admit they were voting for Trump. I think we really needed to see if Trump had any support here, and more importantly, WHY Trump supporters are voting for him.

Attacking them means they wont be forthcoming. We have a dozen threads where posters can castigate Trump supporters already. We dont need another. And the personal attack by** Czarcasm** totally derails any attempt at open discussion. I am still confused why that insult didn’t get a warning.

That being said, perhaps a couple of my comments were too strongly worded. mea culpa.

It’s not consistently-enforced. Czarcasm and SenorBeef get away with junior modding in their Ops all the time, and others do too. It’s anything but consistently-enforced. The OP has long had some leeway in “junior modding” his own thread.

Cite?

The context of my remarks was that some moderators might have a very expansive definition - and overzealous enforcement - of “junior modding” for the reason given.

Oh, please, yes.

You’ve accused me of this more than once, in more than one thread. I humbly request that you either back this up, or knock it off.

Well, in recent memory there was this thread. From that we have these posts:

Then there was this thread. From there we have these posts:

I say they’re marginal at best and more on the side of requests, IMO.

And in both cases, after a couple of polite requests I let the Mods handle it.

So, you’re telling him how he should post?

He is perfectly free, as far as I am concerned, to do either one. I can’t order him to do or not do anything.

Yes, that was very harsh - though from my experience, if you report a post and ask for the thread to be closed that way (provided it is because of a break in the rules) then moderators will be happy to do it.

Though maybe it was classified as junior modding, which I know the SDMB aren’t keen on.

They will not close a thread simply because the thread starter doesn’t like the where the thread is going unless said thread was going to be closed anyway with zero input from the thread starter.
