OpenOffice vs OpenOffice995

When I recently paid for PDF995 I noticed that they had a product called “OpenOffice995”. I wondered if it had anything to do with Sun Microsystem’s OpenOffice. When I saw the names of the various parts of the program, “Impress”, “Draw”, etc, I figured it must be the same thing. I’ve also noticed that the copyright mentions Sun Microsystems.

My question is, is OpenOffice995 merely a re-branded version of OpenOffice? Is it identical? Does it have some improvements?

It looks like they’re merely selling a support contract for OpenOffice.

Yeah, that makes sense, they’re charging $19.95 to lose the sponsorship “nagware” and get support. It only helps the OpenOffice cause I suppose.

I remember seeing, a while back, a company called Luxuriousity that was selling all sorts of GNU/GPL software under its own branding, with names that were commiting (or bordering on) trademark infringement; IIRC The Gimp was rebranded and sold as LuxuriousityPhoto Shop; OpenOffice was sold as LuxuriousityOffice XP, Audacity as LuxuriousitySound and so on… The company doesn’t seem to be around any more.
