Opinion - has cinema content gone too far these days

There was a time in the 90s when it seemed like every show needed to have a pregnancy episode, with a woman giving birth laying on a table and filmed from a ‘polite’ angle. It seemed to be a fad that passed though, especially for SF/fantasy shows.

Its called children might have less access to such stuff. Do they even know what a book is?

In my circles, it’s generally women who like nudity in non-porn movies. Men tend to take more of a ‘if I want to see naked chicks, I’ll watch porn instead of wading through a plot for boobs’. I hear a lot more about Hugh Jackman’s disappearing shirt in X-men than Mystique’s sartorial lack, for example. I think among older people (maybe 50s, definitely 60s) there’s more of a tendency for men to like ‘titilation’ mixed into movies or TV, but that seems to be because they came from an era where getting pictures of naked women normally required effort and embarassment. Having a device that’s always around that can access live and recorded porn at any time from any urban location takes away the novelty.

Some married ladies find husbands watching porn offensive. I get that men like to see it all but arent those boobs that same as that other lady’s boobs??

Stupid edit max

What ever happened to imagination…actors can start a sex scene and then fade to black…lol then just think how it will come out…that would be cool, give us different outcomes, could be real funny.

Its really the sex that shows the women in boob totality but nothing from men…bugs me!

So you’re saying that you think it’s significantly harder for children to have access to books and magazines than movies? That’s at odds with my experience, where neither is especially hard to get access to, but books and magazines are more easily traded around and hidden from adults.

You probably want to read over your posts to make sure they make sense before posting. I have no idea what you’re trying to say here, at least if it’s got any relation to the stuff that you quoted from me.

They’ve built up such a large audience that they no longer have to do that to attract viewers. Also, the main actors now have enough clout to resist doing so if they feel it is gratuitous. But they still have some.

Of course with Westworld you can say: “Robot boobs, doesn’t count.”

I didn’t vote because I have different opinions on the two examples you gave. I have no problem with male or female nudity. I think we are just shedding the puritan legacy that the US has suffered with for so long and catching up to where Europe was in the 80s.

On the other hand I think every new movie trying to out-do the last in explosions and blood and guts probably could have peaked in the 70s and recent movies would be just as good. Most action movies are just bad cliches at this point. If I never see one more car erupt into a 30 foot fireball due to a gun shot to the fuel tank it will be too soon.

Well, that one with Jeff, Beau and Lloyd Bridges (somethingsomethingmandelbaum… I’ll have to look it up)… Man, when they both dropped trou, my angry girlfriend yelled (in a crowded theater no less) “That’s-a britches too far!”
