Opinion: Lia Thomas shouldn’t swim in the Womens team

Here’s a much more positive story: Harvard University‘s Schuyler Bailar made headlines when he became the first openly transgender swimmer in NCAA Division 1 history.

He is very articulate and I had the opportunity to hear him speak on a Zoom panel last year.

There’s clearly a trainwreck in progress here, but I don’t have time tonight to sort it out. Meanwhile, I’m locking this. I may or may not unlock it later.

OK, I’ve had a chance to go through the thread now. Three conclusions:

First: The article linked in the OP is completely devoid of content, and consists entirely of “people are saying”. Between that, and the nature of the source, I think that this thread started off with a poisoned well. I will not be re-opening it. There does seem to be room for reasoned discussion on this topic, so if someone wants to open a new, non-poisoned thread, that would be allowed.

Second:

This is a personal attack, which is not allowed outside of the BBQ Pit. This is an official Warning for @Thing.Fish .

Third,

This is also a personal attack, and so also a Warning for @Chingon .
