I have a son that’s almost 13, like most normal boys he’s had several bicycles over the years. Diamondback & Mongoose were the nicest, he didn’t like the mountain bike (but it was a Huffy, after all)
In trying to come up with a good Yule present for him, it dawned on me that he could maybe use a bike that didn’t come from Target so I went down to a local bike store that’s treated me right in the past. The older dude working there practically gushed about a Haro Forum-series bike. I’ve never heard of them, but that’s not saying much. Anyone know Haro? Are they good? Or at least better than what he’s rode before?
Thanks
It looks pretty simple, those haro bikes look diesel, and well built. When I was a kid making fake tracks in a vacant lot - that haro would be a nice bike. I had a Huffy and a special mut I put together from parts of dead bikes. My older brother was always handing those down.
What kind of bikes does your son like? Does he care about brands?
I don’t think he cares much about brands, he hates the Huffy because it’s a hunk of crap (cheap shifter, derailer, and brakes) not because it says “Huffy”.
He doesn’t get in the dirt much, but does ride a lot. There are plenty of opportunities for him to get offroad around here and I imagine with a decent ride he’ll branch out a bit.
I’ve already put the money down on it, but I can trade it for another one before [DEL]Christmas[/DEL], [DEL]Yule[/DEL], [DEL]Kwanzaa[/DEL], the mid-winter holiday. But I don’t know if I got suckered by a salesman trying to unload last years flop model or not.
I can’t say much about the brands, and if he doesn’t care then I’d drop the coin on something that will last him. He doesn’t need something as extreme as a stump-jumper, and being 13 he’s going to ditch it on numerous neighbors front lawns, driveways, your front lawn, driveway/garage so it should be able to take the abuse. The harlo looks more than decent.
