I’d also like feedback from people who’ve tried magnetic bikes.
has lots of reviews, a high average review score, magnetic resistance yet it’s only going for 120USD. Isn’t that suspicious? Its usual price is about 200USD which still seems a little low for the number of customer reviews, the 4.4/5 score and the fact that is uses magnetic resistance. It’s foldable too. Is it too good a deal?
Quiet. Can hear it from across the open basement, but not upstairs.
The bikes at my gym used to be friction but are now magnetic. I didn’t notice a huge difference other than the sweat on the flywheel mentioned above. Its not an issue on the magnetic ones. The friction ones can get pretty hot, believe it or not. If you plan on using the thing on a daily basis at fairly intense levels, its probably worth it to spend a little more on a heavier duty model. Just my opinion.
Thank you all for the info. I ended up going with this: https://www.amazon.ca/Foldable-Exercise-Adjustable-Resistance-Strength/dp/B0090OKG38/ref=sr_1_3?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1542748733&sr=1-3&keywords=magnetic%2Bexercise%2Bbike&th=1
I was a little concerned that the resistance might be insufficient but after 10 minutes with it, I can see that it’s going to be amply sufficient for anything but HIIT. After having done about 5 miles with it, I’m feeling something similar to a faint runner’s high.
Keeping cool might be a problem. A/C is sensibly not allowed in my building during Canadian winter so I have to open the window but that might be too little or too much.
Anything to know about properly using an exercise bike?
