A new Mor Furniture store just opened here in the Seattle area. (Actually, I think it was a Bedroom Superstore that changed its name, since they’re owned by the same parent company, but they’re calling themselves new, and have been doing the “grand opening sale” month and stuff, so whatever.)
I went and had myself a look around, since it’s across the street from Ikea and I was down there anyway as I’m searching for a new bed.
My impression: mediocre, and mostly tacky, furniture, with prices ranging from good to not so. There was an occasional piece that seemed like it wasn’t put together too badly and wasn’t overpriced, but I really had to search for them.
When I got home, I did some googling to learn more, and I found quite a collection of horror stories. Aside from all the griping about obnoxious television commercials (which doesn’t affect me, yay TiVo), people had problems with damaged product the company dragged their feet on exchanging, or the credit department mishandling their accounts, or unreliable delivery schedules, or dishonest salespeople making empty promises about when some out-of-stock item would again be available, among other tales of woe.
On the theory that nobody ever puts up a web page to say, “I bought something from Company X and it was pretty much okay and that was the end of it,” I figured I’d ask here for actual Doper experiences with the merchant in question.
So: Anyone shop at Mor? You get what you pay for? Get jerked around on anything? How’d the stuff last? How was service? Do they offer assistance getting bloodstains out of particle board? Y’know, that sort of thing.
