Opposite hand brain therapy

For a long time, I have believed that if you are right
handed and learn to do things with your left hand, that
is supposed to be good in some way, increasing blood
flow to the other side of your brain, possibly making
you smarter, etc. It certainly is useful (handy - sorry)
to be able to do things with either hand, but is there
any truth to this belief? Or is it just some wrong
thing an elemetary school teacher told a bunch of kids?

Thanks for setting the record straight.
