What are the good computer/technical related certificates now? I think the Cisco certification has kind of faded, for instance. I’ve been instructed by my church group mentor to look into this on the theory that a back up to teaching might be needed.
Is there some insight/advice you can give, or is there some sort of information hub about what certificates allow you to do, what the average/starting pay is for certificate holders, and maybe some idea of how much trouble they are to get? I know this is probably asking for a lot.
Do you curently have any marketable computer-related skills? If so, I’d just start there. An Oracle certificate on a resume that has zero experience with Oracle isn’t probably going to get you very far. Paper tigers are a dime a dozen in quite a few computer-related fields. It’s better to have some real working experience to build on.
