Orange opening

No problems here. If necessary, I use my teeth to get it started, and pursue with the hands. It may be messy, but that’s why we have soap and water.

I have decent finger nails so I can peel an orange without a tool, but I prefer to use the tool. It’s quicker, and your hands and nails stay cleaner. The smell of oranges lingers once you get peel under your finger nails, no matter how quick you are to wash your hands.

…and this is a problem?

Heh, I never thought Pullet would be a great name for an orange peeling machine. I guess you could say that’s a pullet surprise*.

*I’m sorry, we just bought baby chicks and I’ve been running that joke into the ground!

Orange, no. Tangerine or mandarin, yeah.

Yes, I can peel an orange with my bare hands.

Me too. I had lots of practice growing up in Florida, with orange trees in my backyard.

I can leap over small buildings, provided they are on the slopes.

They are suprisingly easy to lose, plus I give them away. When I worked for Tupperware I had hundreds of them. Now I’m down to one.

I eat clementines. You look at them funny and the skin peels off.

I used to use a tool to peel oranges, but then I broke up with him.

[Grandpa Simpson]Just eat the damn orange!![/Grandpa Simpson]

I bite my nails, so I wind up poking a hole near the top with what little nub remains on my thumb and after that, I just take it apart. I try to peel the rind in the so that it’s in one big piece, because I don’t like cleaning up the orange splinters and juice and stuff.

I love oranges too. The only fruit I love more than oranges are bananas, but oranges are better, because I can put them in my backpack with my textbooks, and they don’t get squished.

Sometimes I can use my thumbnail, but if I’ve cut them recently then I try to take a *shallow *bite to get it started.

When I was a kid, getting the entire peel off in one piece earned one quite a bit of respect in the lunchroom.

Even today, I still try to get the whole thing in one piece. Brings back fun memories. (Childish, yes, but it beats the adult world.)

And, of course, you have to wash your hands afterwards. Oranges, I love 'em, but they are a bit juicy.

I weep for you and the suffering you have endured

Dangit, now I want an orange, and there are none in the house. Should’ve stopped at the 2 bag 5 truck at Embarcadero and 5th, but I was on my bike.

eta: I love the pampered chef orange peeler. You get a nice spiral every time, and if you’re clever, you can come up with some interesting peel art.

I used to have one of those back in the US. The oranges we have in Thailand are easy to open by hand. Some sort of Chinese variety, I think. I just poke my finger through at the top and peel away.
