I have looked this up on Google and have come across a lot of contradictory information. Especially when used by the gay community.
Does anyone know of the “real” orgin or meaning of the word BOI spelled with an “I”?
As I said I have looked across a lot of sites from Urban slang, to gay slang and have found one site saying one thing and another saying something else.
Seems like the world originally referred to a type of gay person, sort of submissive and boi could be of any age.
In the lesbian community, “boi” indicates a biological female who (more or less, there are varying degrees) lives as a male. I’ve seen the usage range from referring to a butch/stud girl who still uses a feminine name and is still a “she”, but is otherwise what we would normally think of as "masculine, to a very, very butch female with a masculine name, who would have you use “he”.
The complement to this would be “t-girl”, who would be a biological male that lives (again, more or less) as a female.
I think I’ve seen “boi” refer to a gay male as well, with a similar meaning to “twink”, but I’m sure somebody much gayer than I am can elaborate.
