I am aware of versions by Little Feat, a couple of guys from (I think) The Band, and Roger Daltry. The one by the couple of guys is the one I originally heard and remains my favorite, but I gather they were just covering the same song sung by Little Feat.
Does the song originate with Little Feat? Or were they covering someone else? Or is it a kind of folk standard?
