This “terrorism thing?” According to the news tonight bin Laden hasn’t figured prominently in active terrorism circles for years. Terrorism has moved past bin Laden. If anything, one should consider that terrorism may increase (short-term), with a potential for more anger/terrorism against America/Americans as part of a larger anti-Islam propaganda campaign.
I’m waiting for the Onion headline: “Trump demands long-form Osama death certificate.”
I doubt their names are going to be released. I think their reward will be the satisfaction of a job well done. Hopefully a metric ton of cash too.

I think this will be huge. Obama gave the order to go in directly. US special forces in concert with Pakistani support went in and killed him. Ballsy call by Obama…can you imagine the political fallout if they had fucked up??
And as for Osama…I’m glad he’s gone and think it will be a lot more significant than jaded 'dopers seem to think it will be based on most of the posts I’m seeing here.

Good for Bush? Hardly, he never seriously tried to catch Bin Laden. At one point he said Bin Laden didn’t matter and had to be pushed by Congress into at least going though the motions.
Not on an operational level, maybe. He was certainly a powerful symbol though, and controlled a good portion of the cash. You don’t have to be the one making the decisions to be an important figure. He was THE inspiring face of Al Qaida and similar radical Islamic movements.
I certainly am afraid of that. Osama supporters will be wanting reprisals.

The only reason I agree is because we shan’t bring ourselves to their level. However, if anyone’s naked and beaten corpse deserves to be impaled on a spike in front of the White House, it is Osama bin Laden’s.
