You know, one of the things that really grates on my nerves about where the SDMB is going lately is the thought that if a subject is posted on in one forum, that no other forums are appropriate to post in.
I, personally, have no doubt that some posters may wish to make comments that are by no means appropriate for MPSIMS.

Precisely. The subtitle for the forum says it’s for life changing announcements. I agree we should have a new forum for serious announcements, or maybe just rename this one, but that’s where the news threads go. Don’t hate on the messenger!
