Oscar Pool 2013

No problem! I love it. Biggest pool group in a few years. We’re at 17 and I’d love to get to 20.

In!

Me too!

Looks like we were all looking at the same cheat sheets.

Wow, that was a shocking way to begin.

Don’t get too pumped or disappointed on the pool. My win-loss is currently incorrect. I will fix itself later, I assume. I’m 2-2, but it has me at 1-3.

None of us had Tarantino for screenplay. Wow.

I did.

Which is, perhaps, why I was in first place going into Best Picture.

I’d like to thank all the people who made this possible …

Twicks wins! I’ll post full results tomorrow.

I also had QT for screenplay. Ended up #2 this year… Good job Twix!

Congrats, Twickster?

I didn’t sound too sullen, did I?

To be honest, I have no idea how the question mark got there. I’m typing in the dark so that’s my excuse, but seriously: Congrats!

Thanks, everyone. I would like to thank Flavorwire’s Can’t Miss Oscar Cheat Sheet for helping me win my pool last night. (Seriously. Usually I use Entertainment Weekly’s picks, but I absent-mindedly threw it in the recycling prematurely this year. Luckily, rather than relying on my own very random choices, I got an email from Flavorwire yesterday morning.)

Congrats twickster

When I said I’d like to climb out of second, I didn’t mean DOWN !

Entertainment Weekly wouldn’t have helped you. I took their advice in a lot of categories and did pretty poorly.

Clearly, the AMPAS got it all wrong last night, not me.

Hm. I usually do a straight EW ticket and come in top five, though I don’t think I’ve won with it. Remind me to check out Flavorpill again next year.

I got help from an odds website - just googled “oscar odds 2013”, then adjusted those for my personal choices, and subsequently crapped it up :p.

I went with a combination of predictions from In Contention (my Oscar website of choice), plus a few gut picks. And I ended up in tenth.

There’s a lesson in there somewhere.
