“Psst! Who here snarks on Dopers at our site?” is trolling as far as I and the other mods who weighed in were concerned. There was no reason for the thread to be on this board instead of the other site except to draw the attention of Dopers to that site, and to tell Dopers “somebody is snarking on you.” If you want to do that, you can do it elsewhere and keep it there; it’s not going to be permitted here.
If you weren’t wasting your time on paranoia like this the snarkers wouldn’t have so much to talk about.
Just a comment…so because seven might post at the snarkpit, that constitutes saying “who snarks on Dopers at our site?” Hell, I post there but I don’t rip into people just for shits and giggles. I just pick on the idiot snarkers.

I don’t know or care what they’re talking about. As far as moderating goes I’m only interested in what’s done on this board.
This strikes me as a highly nonstandard interpretation; could you clarify how you view this as trolling?
I don’t have an issue with disallowing links to other message boards; that’s the mods’ prerogative. (Though I don’t see it in the list-o-rules for posting; am I looking in the wrong place?) But speaking as someone who’s been on the internet longer than I care to think about, this doesn’t seem like trolling qua trolling.
I care about this board too. That’s why it disappoints me that so many interesting posters have moved on to other sites because of all the foolish decisions around here not the least of which was the Grand Lamification of the Pit. The only complaint I thought there would be to Seven’s thread is that maybe it should have been in MPSIMS but apparently it was too volatile for the rank-and-file to be subjected to. Are you worried they’ll notice the are other sites on the 'net and the SDMB is only a small part of it? On a board that purports to be fighting ignorance, pretty lame.
Even assuming that Seven was violating the rules, which I don’t think he was, that was very poorly handled.

I think it’s a fairly straightforward situation, since people have been warned for bringing snark business over here in past, and that’s what this was. But ‘nonstandard interpretation’ is the name of the game: they do something they believe is transgressive but not against the exact lettering of the rules over here, and that for that reason we’re not allowed to do anything about it. (If we do respond, it moves on to phase two: bitter complaining.) And before we spiral off into a hijack, I’m not accusing you of playing a game or complaining bitterly, Hunter Hawk, and I’m not accusing anybody here in particular; I’m just describing how this pattern proceeds.
This particular thread straddled two different rules, and I point out here that if Seven was unaware there was potential problem (which I doubt), he could have asked us. As I noted earlier, if someone wants to draw attention to personal ventures, including other message boards, we request that they clear it with us, but we almost always allow it. We’re not required to give people a space to deride this board or the people on it. There’s also the off board issue, as laid out earlier.
I would love to be able to defend myself on the matter, but I can not. The topic is forbidden for me to discuss.

Did anyone, ever, as a kid, have a sister(brother, whatever), and you’re riding in the car with your parents, and Kid A say “Kid B is touching me” and mom/dad says “Kid B, quit touching your brother/sister?”
Then, a few minutes later, kid A sticks his/her finger about an inch away from Kid B’s nose. Kid B, of course, cries to mom/dad again. Kid A is able to say, with truth on his/her side—“I didn’t touch her/him.”

Uncomfortable subjects aren’t trolling and deleting threads because you don’t like the content is tacky as hell. I don’t expect you to care but there’s my opinion.

I requested clarification from Skip and Tuba on a couple of points. I got a reply from Tuba and short of attacking me she said “You have nothing meaningful to contribute and only post at this site to snipe, attack, and annoy.” but she didn’t answer my questions on clarification.
What would you recommend I do now?
