Just wondering, other than entertainment/tourism and the usual services needed in any city of that size, are there any significant industries located in Las Vegas?
There’s a big Ocean Spray bottling facility there.
Heh. Ocean Spray. Bottled in the desert. Heh.
The wedding industry there is massive and highly competitive. Unless you want to call that “entertainment”…

University of Nevada, Las Vegas employs 2400 faculty and staff. That’s a pretty big business.
Lots of construction related industry as well and I sell industrial automation equipment to a GoodHumor/Dryers ice cream plant out that way.
Not necessarily off entertainment/tourism but the convention biz in vegas is huge.
Nellis AFB is here, therefor there is a lot of civilian support types.
There’s a lot of “back-office” finance there - credit card services, loan processing, call centers, that sort of thing.
Elvis impersonation, per capita, is much higher in Vegas compared to the rest of the country. It may no longer be a growth industry, however.
Hoover Dam is outside LV. Most of the employees live in Boulder City I think. Little outside of Vegas. Lot of goverment contracting work in Vegas for Nellis AFB, the test site, and “The Mountain” north of Vegas. Got UNLV, the international airport, several call centers. Got atimet plant in Henderson. Also the normal businesses you usually find in a city that size. Resturaunts, shopping malls, fast food, supermarkets, etc.
