I was just knocked off my bicycle by an impatient van driver - he cut across me turning left (this is the UK so I was on the inside). It was a low speed accident and no bones broken or obvious damage to my beloved bike but I did lose quite a bit of skin from my lower leg. Luckily I was less than half a mile from my family doctor so I went straight there and they had my wounds cleaned and dressed within 20 minutes of the accident and made me an appointment to have it looked at again tomorrow. Hooray for the NHS :).
Now the adrenalin has worn off I think this is going to hurt.
I hope the heart is ok. I also hope the van that hit you ran across a construction site full of nails.
Did the van driver stop? Was he aware that he had clipped you?
Yes he did stop and we exchanged details, but he was completely clueless as to what happened. His version of events just did not add up. My guess is he just wasn’t paying attention.
That’s how I got knocked off my bike. I was riding with the traffic flow at maybe 15 to 20 mph when an oncoming vehicle turned left across my lane and I T-boned him at just about the passenger side front tire. Rolled across his hood and almost landed on my feet, but instead skidded around 10 feet. His explanation was that I had made eye contact with him, so he knew I had seen him and that I’d stop.
Been there.
Got tail-ended by a car, & went flying.
Shook up & bruised.
Thak Prime for the old brain-bucket!
Ouch!
Hope you’re ok. Bike accidents are scary. Oblivious drivers who mow you down or push you into the gutter are doubly scary.
Aww. I have nothing of value to add, I just like expressing sympathy. That frickin’ sucks.
