Ouch.

I got up at 04:00 this morning and put the kettle on for coffee. After pouring the boiling water through the filter and having a few sips of my morning joe, in this case French Market with Chicory, I started my laundry.

After half an hour I went down to put the clothes in the dryer. Someone had left his laundry in the dryer all night. Since one washer was still on the spin cycle, I decided I’d be nice and fold my neighbour’s load of wash while I waited for my clothes to finish spinning. I made a nice stack of towels, then started on the socks (which were stained black on the bottoms, BTW – I always wear shoes outside if I’m wearing socks). For some reason my neighbour left his or her socks inside-out. I pulled the toe through the top of the first one, and there was a little fold at the now-outside-out toe. I gave it a little flick of my wrist to sort it out.

That’s when I banged my finger on the dryer. I’m not sure of how I made the motion, but I managed to bend my right ring finger backward and outward. Bloody, it feels like I sprained it! I finished folding my neighbour’s laundry and finished my wash. Now, an hour and a half later, my finger is still sore.

See what I get for trying to be nice?

See? Another reason why you should never fold a stranger’s laundry!

Ice and a splint. I feel your pain though, my hand hurts in sympathy just from the description.

Sorry about your hand! Goes to show you that no good deed goes unpunished.

(Then again I always folded my neighbor’s laundry left in the dryer, except for the bras and underwear. Ain’t touching that, no way nuh uh.)

Not to mention you also folded my towels backwards! I like the tags not to show, dammit! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry about the finger, though!

I’m still in shock that there are people in the world besides my family that drink French Market coffee. Do you get it delivered? That stuff has spoiled me for any other coffee. Ever.

Aahh! Sorry for being so insensitive and not mentioning your finger!! Hope it feels better soon.

So pretty, yet so cruel!

It’s still sore, but I can live with it without a splint or ice. I might put some Tiger Balm on it tonight though.

No, I bought a can of it at Albertson’s. What I’d really like is to be sitting at Café du Monde drinking some cafe au lait and munching beignets. Hm. Maybe I should try putting milk in the coffee I make at home.

!
Indeed! And now my neighbour will probably think that if s/he leaves the laundry in the machine long enough, someone will fold it for him/her!

Did you find a pair of jeans or a red tank top in there?

Sorry, I thought you were writing a review of Wham!

Thank you, I try

I love Tiger Balm. The slightest twinge of a sore muscle and I run for the stuff. I love the feel of the heat sinking deep into my skin. Icy-hot is good too

Ummm, by the way, you didn’t bleed all over your neighbor’s laundry, did you?

Sorry to hear about your hand, Johnny. Trying to be nice could instead get you into incidents that you wish would have never happened, which sucks. Hope your hand feels better soon!

F_X

I’m sorry about your hand.

I’m in this thread with The Wrong Girl to rave about French Market Chickory. Yummmmmmmmmm.

yum yum yum. I can find it intermittently at QFC or Albertsons, and when I do I stock up. yum yum yum.

That stuff is how I snagged my husband. When we were first dating, he’d come over late at night when I was off work and we’d down pots of that stuff. He’d never heard of it before. That’s the perfect after dinner coffee - low caffiene, about 15 times the flavor. It’s like an orgasm in your mouth, only your mouth has the orgasm, there’s no body contortion required, and it tastes a hell of a lot better.

Thanks for the sympathy. The finger is still sore, and it’s a little swollen (just a little bit). It feels bent, but obviously it can’t be or else it would be much much more painful.

The neighbour’s laundry had been sitting in the dryer all night. I just got home from work. It’s been over 12 hours since I folded the stuff. It’s still sitting on the folding table.
