Our goldfish committed suicide!

I thought fish committed suicide by jumping up a bridge? :dubious:

You mean he jumped up? He jumped up to get down?

I see several people in this thread expressed concerns for my well-being.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be going out to do some shopping this afternoon but I’ll be fine.

Darryl is certainly a zombie-fish, but Larry, his sole survivor and beneficiary, still endures at age 21.

But what about Darryl?

A woman.

Did you really have to ask?

I can’t hold my breath 'cuz I’m a fish.
Getting back in the water is my only wish.
Hey. Don’t leave me on the counter.
Hey.
Hey. Hey. Don’t leave me on the counter.
And that was the end of Flounder.

Apologies and thanks to MooNiE the Magnifcent.

Or maybe a man. And your refusal to accept Darryl as he was.

Wtf? Zombie fish thread, plus incoherent resurrection post.

Interestingly…

Last summer, as many creeks were drying up due to drought, my son caught a TINY baby catfish and wanted to rescue him and bring him home. We did. ANd the little guy thrived in a bowl in our house. He got big enough to be released back into a (now much fuller) creek.

Well, this past Saturday, my son played a rather loud electronic dance song on the stereo. And when he did, the catfish started jumping like crazy, and almost got out of the bowl! Apparently, the little guy was VERY sensitive to vibrations, and nearly killed himself by overreacting.

Luckily, we turned off the music, he calmed down, and we took him home to his creek (he happily found himself a big patch of algae to hide in, and is, presumably, fine)…

I guess any number of things could spook a fish into jumping out of the water- but loud sounds and strong vibrations did it for our guy.

A mermaid perhaps?

Well, that feels weird. You just referenced a dude I know IRL…I don’t know why it feels weird, but that’s never happened to me here until now!

Rennies are everywhere! Or do you know him by his more “legit” theatre side?

Scrabble board explosion alert?

It’s actually a common phenomenon. You can see it out in the wild. Apparently certain vibrations (including some boat motors) make fish start jumping.

sigh

*Caviar Tempter…

Yes, its true.

… Fish smells Horrible when its old and re-heated…

Zombie? Incoherent? This should help.

I am still not convinced that the fish in the OP committed suicide. Was Larry able to account for his time? Where there any other fish who may have had a reason to kill Darryl? I’d like this file re-opened.

Especially in summertime, when the living is easy and the cotton is high.

I hate to tell you this, but your goldfish was gay.

Shodan
