I was wondering “does anyone know” How long is required to be aproved / disaproved by the Social Security administration for disability benifits?

I understand unless one is “terminally ill” the waiting period for an answer from the S.S. administration can be month’s and even years.

Can the process be expedited by having an attorney,or are you better off without one?

I would like to hear from someone who has had a bout with the administration and WON.

I have had no dealings with this personally but my mom was finally approved for disability benefits. I think she appealed three times. This was about ten years ago. She was able to get back payments so it is retroactive. She did not hire an attorney.
