My wife has been working on this for a long time. She finally dragged me to Home Depot and we picked out colors. Lattice red for the soffit (over the cabinets) and asparagus for the walls. She did 90% of the painting herself. Her sister came by and helped yesterday as I have been struggling with a cold or something. I helped roll the second coat on the walls late last night. The switch plates and such are back on and we’re done. Except for a little touching up. And we’re painting the ceiling as well.
She’s having a tupperware party tomorrow and it was a rush to get it done. A friend of hers came by to clean the house today. she never made a comment about the new colors and when asked she said “Oh, I’ve been so busy I haven’t really noticed…”
So, she hates it. 
Anyway, wife and I both really like the new colors. Makes it look like a different room. Next is the ceiling, then maybe trying to paint the countertops and when the weather gets warmer again (the spring), we’ll get to the cabinets. And in the meantime, we are proabably going to enclose out back porch, new windows and a new door. And we’ll do some minor decorating and it will need heat and a window a/c unit. It’ll be peachy keen. We’ll turn that into the kids playroom I think and keep the living room for “grownups”.
