Our summer vacation - A Dutch MMP

In a burst of unheard of domesticity, I have cleaned all 3 bathrooms, dusted the living room and removed the old window treatments (just because I felt like it). I will now look for new window treatments. I like it better already–it’s a cleaner line, so to speak.

It rained here for all of 30 seconds–the deck didn’t even get all wet. We need rain, so if the east coast could send some our way, it’d be appreciated. Ta.

rigs how bout a buncha rain and associated tornadic activity? We just came out from under a tornado warning. I was out checkin’ on the pool and heard the sirens go off. I know that particular siren sound for tornado warning. I ran back inside and got a local station on teevee. Sure enough… So we hunkered down (why does that sound dirty?) in the laundry room with my handy dandy weather radio until the warning was expired. That was about thirty minutes. Now it’s rainin’ really hard yet again. I will go out to le pool again around seven thirty to check it and see if I need to let water out yet again. Fay looks like she’ll stay with us through tomorrow. There are flash flood watches/warnings all over the place. Everyone is bein’ asked not to drive unless absolutely necessary, which makes sense. It would be a dire emergency to get me out in this stuff! If the heavy rains continue overnight we probably will just stay in and even gasp not go to church. gasp

Did I kill the MMP?

Since it’s almost Sunday or for some of us Sunday already, I say it’s time for confession. Go on! Bare your souls. rigs and I already have.

**swampy ** - quit dripping all over the MMP! :stuck_out_tongue:

I have nothing else to say. It’s gonna be another half a muscle relaxer night… Oh yeah…

Nah, you didn’t kill it. We ran out to the video store to return some movies and get a few more. After that, we ran to the liquor store. After that, I went and gabbed with one of my neighbors.

Still beautiful here…

Dinner tonight turned out so well that I had to post it. I’ll PM McUne in case she doesn’t see it.
Dunno what to call this… I just dumped stuff that had been in the freezer for a while into the slow cooker. How about, Avoiding Freezer Burn Casserole?
1 pound sweet Italian sausage
2 large stalks broccoli chopped
1 bag frozen spinach
1 medium yellow onion chopped
1 bag dried lentils
1 teaspoon or so Penzey’s Fox Point seasoning - I should have used a lot more
water to almost cover

mix together in a slow cooker and set on high for about 6 hours.

it didn’t turn out like soup like I hoped when I first started, because I ran out of room in the cooker, but it was all yummy anyway.

I’m drinking martinis, eating stir-fry, and listening to Jimmy Buffet on Radio Margaritaville. No rain here.

[Elaine]STELLLAAAAA!!![/Elaine]

I’m still here. Still contemplating working. Although I’ve mostly been contemplating the inside of my eyelids, as I’ve struggled to stay awake. I slept long enough last night that I was afraid if I took a nap today, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at all tonight, so I managed to keep the eyelids (mostly) propped open. Oh yeah, it’s another thrilling and exciting Saturday night at the Tiger Den.

ok, swampy, I confessed a few things. I hope they don’t cause you (or anyone else, especially Pie, and she knows why) to lose respect for me

BioRosie confession is good for the soul. We won’t lose respect. However, we may point and laugh. :stuck_out_tongue:

What did y’all get at the liquor sto Taters?

doggio martinis are a good thing. Just sayin’…

This from a Southerner who doesn’t like sweet tea? Bless your heart. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s why I had seconds.

I’m not the only one thinking about cats and thumbs…

sad, thumbless cat

ETA: I don’t dare confess…

I offered absolution alternatives over in the confessions thread. However, for you the price has jumped to five hundred dollars in unmarked twenty dollar bills. :stuck_out_tongue: Plus your prayer rug will be one of those synthetic rubber mats that say “Welcome”. That’ll teach you to p.o. the offerer of absolution!

Fuck you.

 just kidding. (see linked thread for elucidation. Or just talk trash about me amongst yourselves).
I just finished watching The Sure Thing–love that movie.

WOOHOO!!!111ONE! I’M GETTING LUCKY TONIGHT!

No, I’m the one getting lucky. heheheheheheheheh.

Ok, enough cyber silliness for one night. Toodles, all.

Just watched Rashomon. I’ll be spending my night cleaning exploded brains off of my walls.

 :frowning:

I had a great day, although I did a bit more than I usually do.

First, I went out - by myself, sans my daughter (who is normally my “traveling companion” on weekend expeditions - and a big help to me in many ways, due to my arthritic knees and use of a cane to walk). It wasn’t very far - just a few blocks, but I visited a neighborhood bakery (a Mexican/Salvadorean bakery, with a lot of pastries and breads that I’d never seen before btw!), the KFC to get their new craving chicken sandwich (their take on the Chik-fil-a sandwich, I think), Aldi’s to get a few things and finally Safeway.

I rode the Metro bus there and then back to get to the Safeway–of course, I had several bags by then. The bus driver, though, was the same one, and she teased me; I told her that after Safeway, I was going home. When I got home, though, I made some home-made tomato sauce!

A co-worker brought in tomatoes from his garden and by Friday there was still a goodly number left. I volunteered to take em home and … liberate them into a tomato sauce. Quite a few of them were roma-style tomatoes too, which was great! I plunged them into boiling water so that I could peel them easily, then later added the cut up tomatoes to my sauce base, which was: onions, garlic, green pepper and mushrooms. I also used some fresh basil and oregano. Right now the sauce tastes a bit sweet. Any suggestions on how to take the sweetness down a notch or two?! Other than that, it’s delicious.

Swampy, we bought some more blueberry vodka in case our neighbor showed up to watch movies with us. We turned her on to the drink we make with blueberry vodka, cranberry juice, and sprite. She just loves it.

So, we spent a goodly chunk at Costco today. I’m now sitting here using my brand new whammy, jammy 'puter with a 24 inch wide screen flat panel monitor. It’s quite nice, but I still feel I didn’t really NEED it at this time.

I must admit I really like how my pictures look on this monitor.

Hey we just bought a computer from Costcovia with a overly large flat screen monitor! It came today. The screen is immense!!!
