Hello everyone. My first day back at work wasn’t too terrible. All the same, it was damn hard to get up when the ol’ alarm went off this morning.

Bobbio, as always, I really admire the fact that you get out there and give back to your community the way you do.
My daughter was informed at work yesterday that they had to change her schedule for this. She wasn’t initially pleased, but when she found out that she had today and tomorrow off, and that none of her shifts were night or evening, she was much happier. She has wisely decided she’s not answering the phone on her days off. Every time she has a day off, they call her in and and won’t take no for an answer. She’s finally had enough.
We had thunderboomers, lightening and rain again last night. We had a couple of thunderboomers today, but I didn’t see any lightening. It’s definitely been raining though. It’s nice because it’s clearing the smog and cooling things down a bit.

There is a GIANT hole in the street in front of our driveway. I mean, you could fit about 10 men inside it, with room left over–standing straight up and none of them shorted than 6’. :eek: It’s 10 pm here! I so want to take the backhoe and just dig the damned pond right now (we want a pond in the backyard–we have just under an acre; why not?)
I watched Roman Holiday on DVD tonight and that’s the closest thing I came to the Olympics. I’ve given up on them.
Thanks to all who inquired about my health. My left arm still hurts like a mother when I move it or use it in any practical way. :rolleyes: It is better, though. I’m just old.
BTW, I talked to the guys outside fixing our water main and one of them was BORN in 1983. Bah.
Do you have a doctor’s appt, FCM? Cause this other Mooommm says “Hie thee for a CAT scan!” That ain’t right. It reminds me of a couple of years ago when I had that baby brain bleed.

I heard a weird noise a minute ago. It sounded like a drum, pounding really fast. I looked out back - I have a small metal trash can that holds potting mix - it was under the corner of the roof and it was pouring rain on it! Very loud. I moved it - ‘cause I’m fixin’ to go to bed. I got wet. It’s finally raining - and it’s supposed to all week. Yay!
That’s a good question, canine servant. I’m asking myself the same thing.
Oh, wait. I know. It’s to finish up the work that I didn’t get done this afternoon when I got pulled off it for the Anthrax Special.
When I get this job done some time tomorrow, I am going to spend 24 hours doing nothing but goofing off! I’m talking sitting in the recliner and watching TV and knitting, or maybe even <gasp> sorting some of the stuff in the back room and trying to organize my sewing/knitting stuff a bit better. I’ll probably just sit in the recliner and watch TV and knit, though.
Doggio - Rogers can scurry up my lily white hynie. But then, I got my iPhones and am paying Ted’s damn cellular tithe, so he has nothing to complain about.
Taters - Oh, the candlelight dinner was nice. It was just afterwards we got rather tired of waiting for the damn power to come back on. Being that it was past midnight, there weren’t a whole lot of options.
Blurf. Antibiotics is good… Been out of circulation for the better part of 72 hours (yup, one of the few things I managed to get myself to do was compose and post the MMP. Priorities, you know…? :)) with a bad throat bug. Thought it was a virus. 24 hours after starting antibiotics I’m completely lucid for the first time in days. (although I am still coughing up a lung now and then.)
Hope all the other Mumper sickies are feeling better, too. FCM – get yourself checked out! that sounded scary! :eek:
OK… lot’s of stuff to catch up on!
We actaully spent nearly a week mostly around the Hague – really enjoyed it! We especially loved the Modern Art Museum (the Gemeente Museum). Also ended up in Wassenaar twice – once doing a morning walk in the nature reserve on the coastal dunes there, and another time in the amusement park (Duinrell – we forwent Six Flags and Efteling this time around.) We also went to the Mauritshuis twice, for the Rembrandts and the Vermeers there (not to worry, we also got to both the Rijksmeuseum and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, too. As well as the Kruller-Muller “Museum in the woods”.)
I could go on for ever… Suffice to say this was at least our third visit to the Netherlands, and we will be back…
One more thing, since it was asked (by Ivory and others) – reaction to the Red Lights districs by the kids. Boy was all “yuck!”; girls both seemed a lot more curious… All reached the “correct” conclusion (that it’s a Meat Market, and while it may address real human needs, it’s not romantic at all.)
Not sure this would normally be down my alley, but if you go see it again, give me a call anyway…?

Doggio, I’m not sure what’s up with the $4K. I didn’t even try to figure it out, I guess I’ll work on it later today. You see, it’s always just such an accomplishment to finally get through reconciling that I was shocked to see that it didn’t come out right.
This morning I feel a little blech and I have a very slight fever. Blech. Oh well, work beckons anyways.
Hey, just checking in. I am so behind, without a chance of catching up. I need some strong MMPer thoughts with regard to my getting a laptop. If I am ever going to be in with the Cool Kids on a regular basis I just have to acknowledge the fact that I am not always going to be up to sitting at the desktop.
