Outlander Season 5

We also watched every week and liked the season pretty good. My wife has read all of the books now(she read them about a year ago) and feels like the show reflects pretty well what the books felt like. Yes, there are plot differences, but she has been satisfied.

I believe the third book was originally advertised as the conclusion to the “outlander trilogy” and it feels it in some way.

I like Outlander, was not put off by the violence in the final episode, and thought the season was solid. Outlander remains one of the best shows on TV. One of the few that I anticipate hugely.

Yes, that’s true. But wasn’t he also a physician?

No. Dr. Rawlings was someone else. PM me if you want a spoiler. I’m on my phone and don’t feel like fiddling with spoiler tags.

started watching season 1 and it’s good so far. It’s on netflix now

Yes, unfortunately they are very much delayed in adding new seasons. This thread is discussing season 5 and that still hasn’t hit Netflix after an entire year.

My sense of it, or my response to it at any rate, was that in a lot of movies and books being raped is positioned as an ultimate threat, something that our protagonist could never recover from. In Gabaldon’s books and the TV series modeled on it, we see people badly hurt by it, devastated by it, yet eventually coping. I don’t think she can be justly accused of minimizing rape or trivializing it, but she’s also portraying it as something our protagonists may have to go through and cope with. And they seem stronger as a result.
