I have two roommates and we all use this computer. We also all have school email accounts. Right now Outlook is setup so that it get all of out mail at once. And if any of us sends out email it gets sent as being from my roommate Steve. I have tried to create new .PST files, but they still all link back to all users, in other words, if I create/open my .PST, and delete my other roommates accounts, it deletes them from the system entirely. Obviously this is not desired. Is it possible to set it up so that whoever is using the computer can check their email and only their email at a time? Thank you so much!
Set up a user profile for each user.
Use different Windows login names, and select the part under start\control panel\users that says Separate user options.
You could use another e-mail program. I have Outlook on my work computer, and I wouldn’t use it if it weren’t required.
Netscape Messenger is a bit easier to use in my opinion. I have multiple accounts on that client. Or use a different client for each person.
Outlook is crap unless you’re using it on a Network for alignment reasons. Avoid at all costs.
Outlook Express is marginally better.
Eudora I like a lot.
Netscape Messenger seems to be very popular, and minimal hassle.
Take your pick. They’re all free.
If each of your accounts are being checked in outlook, all you have to do, when sending an email - in the email itself, choose Options|Sending Using. This way you can choose which account you are sending from.
You can also quickly set up a filter for each of you, so that each of your mail goes to a different folder. Do this by choosing Tools|Rules Wizard and following the instructions.
