Money certainly stands out, but what a great album! Not a bad song anywhere.
If I was picking a Pink Floyd album for this thread, I think it would have to be Animals.
I feel we have a winner of the thread here. Animals was done at the height of Pink Floyds fame and creativity, yet had no one outstanding song. And its a great, great album and is likely the biggest selling album that we have proposed so far.
Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti nearly qualifies IMO, much like Quadrophenia in the OP. A double-album full of consistently solid B-tier quality songs but none of which, with the exception of maybe Kashmir, make the A-tier list of best all-time Led Zep tracks. Yet it is often top or near top of fan and critic favorite albums.
Joni Mitchell’s Blue. It’s probably her most liked album, and every song is good. But there were no hits, and no song dominated. River gets Christmas play, Nazareth had some chart action with This Flight Tonight. Little Green, California, and Carey might stand out a little.
