Oven burning out light bulbs

Is there anything about an oven that could cause it to suddenly be chewing through light bulbs? Or has the quality of light bulbs just dropped precipitously?

It’s a GE electric oven from 1995, goes for years on a light bulb then suddenly burns out two new ones in two months.

Why are you, of all people, using an electric oven? But seriously, did the new bulbs that burned out come from the same package? I’m guessing it could just be a matter of getting hold of a bad package of bulbs.

Gas cooktop, electric ovens. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now that you mention it, the last two bulbs did come from the same package. I’ll try again.

Now that you mention it, you are probably right that the combination of gas range + electric oven is the best combination. Of couirse few houses are both plumbed for a gas range and wired with 220V for the electric oven.

Are you using the special “appliance” light bulbs, which are specifically designed to withstand the heat of an oven, or just putting in a standard light bulb? That could make a big difference.

use a GE appliance bulb, it is a GE oven after all. they do have good bulbs.
