Over 60 dopers, are you staying home??

We pretty much do anyway, maybe venturing out a couple times a week for appts. or shopping. But I know a LOT of over 60’s are working, so how are you handling that?

Me, I go everywhere. Just got back from my first cruise in fact. The prices were so low I couldn’t afford not to go. I go to the gym three days a week and have noticed a possible 30% decline in attendance at my Silver Sneakers classes. Around here, coastal North Carolina, is not really a hot spot yet. I suspect that when tests start coming back positive we’ll see more of a decline.

I’m going to work. I wash my hands more, but that’s all. Even if I got it, I’d have a 90+% chance of survival.

I’m not overly concerned. Fear is the mind-killer.

Working from home, like every other teacher in China now.

We’re in Italy. Not much to do if you go out. But we do.

I’m already working more from home right now, but I still go in to the office, and I haven’t stopped going out in general.

I’m still in the office 5 days a week, seeing patients (many of whom have respiratory complaints). So far my state (WI) has only 3 identified cases of Covid19. We’ll see what happens, won’t we?

I retired in December, but I’m my granddaughter’s “day care” and I take her to various toddler activities. In fact, today, we’re going to storytime at the library. I also do our grocery shopping and run most of our errands. Oh, and I’m taking an ASL class at the local college, and so far, they haven’t closed down.

Beyond that, spousal unit and I don’t do a lot of things that involve crowds. We’ve been eating out less - not because of germs but because we’re trying to shed some poundage, and it’s easier when I cook. We haven’t been to a movie in ages because none have appealed to us. We’re not church people, and the local theater groups haven’t had productions that interest us. So on the whole, no, we’re not staying home more than usual.

I’m 62 and going to work as usual. I never thought I’d live this long anyway.

Do you know if any prisons have been affected yet?

I have been [ol][li]Washing my hands []Coughing into my sleeve when I cough[]Ignoring it.[/ol]If I feel sick, I will work from home.[/li]
I’m 64, I don’t have any other health issues, and there have been IIRC three cases in my state.

The only thing that worries me is that my nephew lives in China, and I have not heard anything from him. That’s not unusual, but…

Shodan

Hell, no. I work six days a week, and always hit the library before going to work. On Saturday (my one day off) I do the laundry, buy groceries, etc. etc.

I’m also a hard core walker, and will not give up my daily outings. I’d die first.

I’m basically doing what I did while in chemo with a suppressed immune system. Go about my business, but don’t take unnecessary risks.

No. I’m not that much over 60, my general health is excellent, and I typically recover quickly from viruses. If I weren’t on a strict budget at the moment, I’d book a cruise. But at this time, I can’t even afford the discounted prices.

My only concern is that I’m a regular visitor at a nursing home, the one my mother is in. I’m taking all the recommended precautions, which is all I can do.

Still showing up for work, can’t build airplanes from home. Just spent a week in Phoenix, had no issues flying or being in crowds of a couple spring training games.

We’re 72, and still engage in our normal routines. I did cancel our trip to WDC, as I have diabetes and it seemed foolish to tempt fate. The airlines is refunding our tickets.

My Beloved and I just made the decision to cancel our flight to a Virginia Beach resort, planned for May 1st. She has some upper respiratory problems, and the doctor advised us not to make the trip.
We will get a refund for the flight out there, but the flight back(first class, booked in late November) we will probably not get a refund for. Since this was at a Worldmark resort we had no problem getting our points back-They just said “We understand completely, and we hope you get better soon.”

Same as most here. However I have two tickets for the theatre next week. I’m fine about going but the person whose birthday treat it is has just had a liver transplant (seven weeks ago). With deep regret I don’t think she should come. I haven’t yet broached it with her.

Staying home? No. I go everywhere I used to go, riding public transportation, going into crowded spaces (supermarkets count, right?), pretty much everything I ever did. I wash my hands a bit more often but other than that I haven’t made any adjustments. 61 y.o.

I’m 63 and live in western Washington state. I haven’t changed my routine, and I’m at increased risk due to lupus. I use hand sanitizer like crazy at the gym and spray and wipe the treadmill (but not weight machines) before and after use, and wash my hands at least once while there. I’ve read intense workouts improve immunity, and I hope that helps me. I work out 6 days a week, lupus allowing.

I’m thinking of buying weights so I can workout at home if places like the gym close down.

The governor has banned large gatherings, but I seldom attend those anyway.

I’m most concerned about my son, who has fairly serious asthma and lives in King County, where most of the cases have been so far.
