Overcoming autism

I was in ATMB and saw a thread by someone who was looking for a list of all the “ask the _____” threads. I looked at the list of threads people had provided links for and clicked on an “Ask the autistic person thread” from May 2004. Of course, now it has the google sponsored links on the bottom.

Among the ads was one for this site, which is called Autism: coming back home, and which sports the tagline, “Don’t manage autism - End it!”

I was wondering whether this researcher, Jean Genet, is legitimate and whether his Byonetics program is recognized or accredited anywhere.

He says he is founder of and Director of Research at the National Center For Integrative Medicine, which I cannot find a website for, though it has lots of google hits as part of descriptions of this guy, ie: “the article was written by Jean Charles Genet, Director of The National Center for Integrative Medicine and The National Research Center for Chronic Fatigue.”

I was just wondering about the legitimacy of anyone purporting to end, rather than treat, a person’s autism. Is it possible? Does anyone know anything about this particular program?

Two sites for autism information:
The Autism Society of America and The National Autistic Society (UK) .

I did not find any information on Jean Genet or Byonetics on these sites, leading me to believe that there has not been any independant research into this therapy. His therapy seems to be similar in principle to subliminal messaging .
The only cite for the National Center for Integrative Medicine was a 2 year-old document noting that a senator had suggested that the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine should be renamed to that (no cite for the article).

Information on treating autism can be found here.
