Overturned truck last night on I-95 stole my precious time!

I got stuck in a pileup once (well, more than once, but I’m thinking of a specific incident). Turned out, the source was a vintage convertible that had flipped

I could hardly resent the driver, after having seen that, but I did allow myself the snide thought that s/he might have been one of those who thinks that owning a vintage car automatically makes one an ace driver, and acts accordingly. Then again, it might be what Friend said when I mentioned it to him: people these days don’t know how to handle those big wide cars, nor other drivers to maneuver around them.

Again I say, I didn’t resent the driver, but it was inevitable for me to conclude that the make, model, and age of the car, not to mention the possibly sub-par maintenance, must have been the source of the accident.

I must also confess I have a bias. My husband animates car accidents that have resulted in lawsuits. So I get to hear the stories about how one dickhead move caused a death or incredible damage.

It’s not always the irresponsible driver’s car that ends up damaged–it wouldn’t surprise me if this truck was overturned because it had to avoid someone driving like a dickhead. To save that person’s life, the truckdriver might have risked his own and lost his truck’s load. Happens way too damn often. I’m kind of a cynic about how accidents happen.

Yeah. That follows, really.

It seems that every time I drive on I-95, I will see at least one accident. This morning while driving MsRobyn and Airman Doors to the airport south of Baltimore, I encountered not one, but three. The first was a tractor-trailer on its side, on Exit 80. Nobody from 80 could get onto the road. There were also two smaller accidents, and construction. Traffic was backed up from the split to White Marsh - 5 miles of dead-stop traffic.

All because someone wasn’t watching. The big truck across the exit could only serve to lessen traffic on 95 - so it was the little fender-benders that did it.

That truck driver was my MOM. And she was KILLED, you jerk!

Are you happy NOW?
