I was hit by another car today..

Driving along a main road (my first time ever on my own in the car), A white transit van pulls out and hits the side of me. Shaken, I drive on and turn up the first road I find to find somewhere to sort it out, the white van guy indicates but doesn’t follow. Long story short it’s his fault but my insurance is paying for it.

I am not bothered about the cost, I do not resent the other guy even though it was his fault. So why do I feel like shit? (guilty, ashamed, anxious, worried)

Anyway, About the pit. I could have swore it used to say something along the lines of - for flames about anything. But now it seems to be only for flames about the SDMB. Well I think that message should be changed. As it seems to be used for people to rant about any old thing. And I think that is what ir should be used for. Affterall - we already have another forum for complaints about the SDMB.

Uh-huh. And he hit you how hard?

erm, about this hard.

He’s put a great big dent the size of the corner of a transit van into the side of my car. I am not physicaly hurt. I am mentaly hurt. It was my first time ever driving a car on my own.

Forget I said anything. There are people in the world with far worse problems than mine. Heck, mines barely a problem, more of an incident. Something to deal with and then forget. Or remember for the sake of having something to talk about. I feel ok now, maybe because I’ve had a bit to drink and put some music on.

Ranting about your trivial problems is ok people. But just remember that there are people who would love to have your problems rather than their own.
Don’t worry, I am not normaly this serious, only when drunk.

Maybe you should change your name to “Wobley”?

Lobley, here’s a perfect example of what we were talking about earlier in the week.

You are like a SEESAW. You post a thread about getting hit by a car (AGAIN!) and in that same thread you tell us how to run the pit. One person makes a crack at you and you come in and retract your whole statement.

I’ve been there pal. Say what you want to say and stick by it, or don’t post it at all. I feel like you’re Laura in the Glass Menagerie. If someone says one off thing to you you fly off into a self degradation luau

j

Obviously, you are so emotionally traumatized by this event that you fail to recognize your physical injuries as well as the severity of your emotional distress. You are not thinking clearly at all. Perhaps you need some help.

I read the title, and for some reason assumed it was A) a person being hit directly (not in a car), and B) the second time it had happened (the “another”). Which is a rant I would have liked to read.

Being in a car accident–even one that’s not your fault, is pretty traumatic and upsetting. It’s natural that you feel shaken and “guilty” and all kinds of other feelings that don’t seem appropriate to the situation. I’m glad you’re not hurt.

As for that stuff about how to run the pit, let’s just chalk that up to shock and stress and pretend it wasn’t there, okay?

God DAMN! Thank the lord for smart guys like you. I read it the exact same way. I was still in the fog until you came along.

SmackFu, you’re my hero

Hey, the Pit is fine for all manner of ranting. Don’t appologise. Hell, if some schmuck hit me and drove off, I’d not only be in the Pit, I’d be in here with language that would melt your monitor.

That’s because you’re a no good scot

I can provide that rant. Not the “today” part, but it was recently enough that I still have the the scabs on my elbows. Would have probably been nothing to get pissed about, except that the asshole’s trailer hitch caught the chain stay on my bicycle, flipping me over the handlebars, onto my elbows. Even as it was, I barely consider it getting hit.

The first time was a real hit though. Flipped me up over the roof and back onto the ground like a rag doll. Broke the car’s windshield with my back (OK, the metal U-lock in my bag probably helped), as well as my bike’s front wheel. It was his fault (turning left from the opposite lane across my path), but mostly due to the slush and ice on the road keeping both of us from being able to stop in time.

Hmm… I guess that wasn’t much of a rant.

Whoa, what happened? If he hit you why isn’t this guy paying? If any motherfucker hits my car I will sue his ass and make him pay. Tell us all and use lots of profanity as well.

:stuck_out_tongue:

What!? none of that stuff happened! I only got hit by a car once (I was in a car at the time), I did not tell anyone how to run the pit! I simply suggested that people remember that there are people in the world with worse problems than theirs. NO-ONE made a crack at me. And I didn’t retract my statement!

Which thread were you reading??

I may change my mind a bit, It’s not because I am ‘laura in the glass whatever’ I am just complicated, It’s called CONTEMPLATION!

Don’t think I’m weird, just accept me as I am or ignore my posts if it annoys you.

I’ve been hit twice by cars - that is, a car hitting me, not my car. I figured it was because most hateful people think I’m too ugly to live, so they’re trying to do the world a favor and eliminate me - especially since in both cases they took off like a bat out of Hell.

Nothing to add, except to congratulate jarbaby on “self-degradation luau”, it’s my new favorite!
