Overviewing

Flipping through an industry journal this morning, I chanced upon an article that began:

“Recent discoveries in the [sub]blah-blah, woof, woof…[/sub]. The following summary overviews these developments.”

This, I believe, is my first encounter with the verb form of overview. Is this legit usage? Can I overview stuff?

It’s in Websters as “a general survey” but, like you, it’s not part of my standard lexicon.

That didn’t answer your question, did it?

Websters does list it as a noun.
