Oxnard, California here I come!

There is one restaurant in Oxnard that is worth the drive from Santa Barbara for me, Swan Korean BBQ. This is outstanding and very authentic Korean food. It’s on Oxnard Blvd maybe four blocks off of the 101 on the ocean side.

KidScruffy, are you a Barbarian? If so, there are two others besides you and me.

Welcome to the Real World! Glad you made it safely.

You sound like you are adapting nicely. The nice things are north, so jaunt up to Santa Barbara sometime. A good juicer is essential. Get one that can handle a big load, and freeze what you can’t drink right away. Ice cubes made of juice store in bags easily, and are great additions to tea, cocktails, etc.

Yes indeed - at least until I graduate law school. In fact, I was born and raised in SB, although I haven’t always lived here.

Still new to the Dope, though, so go easy.

Ventura Rd is becoming my favorite road in Oxnard. There’s a Del Taco just off of 5th, and the Popeye’s on Gonzales. I’m hoping there’s an In&Out somewhere along Ventura Road, so my lunch plans can be finalized for eternity.

We’re planning on trying the Korean BBQ place this weekend. And maybe Thai food, if I can remember where one is.

Santa Barbarian checking in. Welcome neighbor!

Don’t forget to check out the Outlet Malls in Camarillo. Oh, and true locals pronounce it “Point Myweenie”.

Welcome to the SDMB as a member Bobotheoptimist ! You finally decided to stop lurking, eh?

Damn. We’re coming out of the woodwork. Besides the three of us in this thread we also have brightpenny and iamthewalrus.

And I make the fourth Santa Barbarian.

On preview, I see that haj has stolen my thunder.

::waves fist::

Absolutely. They swarm the high schools to pick through the trash. I’d be in line to shoot them all if it were legal.

If you’re getting actual Ocean Brand Breeze ®, yeah it will.

Every time I smell the eucalyptus trees, I think of Buena High.

Ask around and find out if the cheap second-run theater is still in Oxnard. It was a couple years ago, but I can’t seem to find it through Yahoo now.

Welcome! From the fifth Santa Barbarian…

And you’re using “we have brightpenny” in the platonic sense, right?

We need a SB Dopefest.

It’s not like I said I knew you.

Jeez, ouch.

And thus, the SB Dopefest is off to a touchy start.

…Touchy in a non-biblical, platonic, politically correct way, of course…

I was trying to make a joke about the biblical meaning of “knew.”

Nah, they’re funny. I’ll take a seagull teasing my cat over a herd of damn whitetail deer destroying my garden any day. I may change my mind if (when?)one poops on my new car.

Speaking of which, am I supposed to tip the car wash guy? How much?

Ooh! Yes! That would be fun.

Do I count as a Santa Barbarian? Can I come anyway?

Got it now. Darn written word, misunderstood. SB Dopefest is safe.

Huh?? There’s no sales tax in Colorado?

Something you should know about VTA County (which may or may not apply to you) – the cops are racist. We’re talking boondock Texas town racist. Let’s put it this way – the black population of VTA County is less than 2%, but in prison it’s over 50%. Figures, huh? Even if you’re white, if you look like a long-haired freak or like you just dropped out of continuation school, you’ll get hassled. (A standard pull-over question, in addition to “May I see your license?” and “Have you had anything to drink tonight?” is: “Have you ever been arrested?”)

I don’t think Latinos/Asians get harassed nearly as much…and if you dress like a rich white Republican, the cops won’t bother you at all.
