The only reservation I have about trying this program is that I have no place in my house for a chin-up bar. I bought one of those that go in the door frame, but it won’t fit in any of my doors because the trim is too wide.
I’ve been working out with free weights and a sledgehammer, and I’m seeing good results. I was also doing the one hundred pushup plan, but I plateaued at week five, and I can’t get past it. I want to suppliment my workout routine by either joining a gym or doing this program. Is there anything I can use in place of a chin-up bar?
That’s what I ended up doing. I got the kind that screws into the door frame.
I’m still doing P90X, although I have a hard time working out every single day. It’s more like 5 times a week. Stpauler, The only suppliments I got are the books that come with the dvd’s. There’s one outlining all the different exercises and one that contains a lot of nutritional information. If by suppliments you meant Beach Body’s protein drinks and power bars and things like that, then no, I’ve never bought any of those.
Well, you definitely need a chin-up bar and some free weights. Lots of the exercises make use of these. That’s pretty much all that’s mandatory.
A yoga mat can be helpful is some of the workouts, like plyo and yoga, although I usually don’t use mine. In fact, I don’t even do the yoga workout. It’s way too passive for me. I just do another day of Kenpo or plyo instead. They also recommend a heart rate monitor, but I don’t use one of those either.
Oh, and you might want to use a chair for things like dips, back flys, and to help you with chin-ups and pull-ups. I still have to use a chair for support to do a significant of those.
I have a chin-up bar - although I can’t use it yet - I haven’t graduated to pull-ups yet, I am still using bands.
I am starting it AGAIN. I started it in August and had to stop end of August. It’s hard, but it’s at your own pace, so it would be challenging for anyone.
I got the post-workout recovery drink mix as part of the package I bought. At first I didn’t use it, as I generally think that stuff is bunk. However, after I tried it, it really is pretty good. It tastes good and I do seem to recover from the workout quicker with a lot less soreness. I plan to buy more when my trial jar is empty.
That P90X has been really catching on over the past 6+ months. Just the past two weeks I’ve heard people talked about it from at least 5 different angles.
A buddy of mine got really into it for a while, which pretty much meant I had to get into it too. It kicks your butt, but the point is muscle confusion and muscle failure, so if you can’t match them rep-for-rep that’s okay. You’re still getting a good workout for yourself. I personally think i’s better than CrossFit -CrossFit has its cult, but it looks like an easy way to hurt yourself- although I do not regularly practice it due to being a leetle gurlee mann.
We really liked it because the host is a comic douchebag sometimes. Whenever they do an exercise he’ll do a couple reps then go make fun of someone for the rest of the time. High-larious.
