Bad enough that they are in a hurry to get things done-the current legislative session doesn’t end for a while-but they want to quit early so they can spend even less time doing what they’re paid to do. Og forbid they have to come back to Harrisburg-we’re paying the bastards $127 per day to show the fuck up for work in addition to their salaries if the hogs live greater than 50 miles from the Harrisburg pigpen.
On top of the existing 5.2% pay increase they are slated to receive on December 1, they would like to have another 20% (yes that is a two and a fucking 0-as in Oh Christ, we’re getting fucked) the increases amounting to $13K. Methinks Joe Average isn’t seeing spit in comparison thereto.
Seriously. If PA residents never needed their drivers’ licenses, business licenses, or state tax appeals expedited, the Assembly wouldn’t have anything to do but sit around plucking lice from each others’ backs and mugging for the cameras. It wouldn’t be the first time I thought to myself, “We’re paying them what?!”
Legislative pay should be upgradable only by referendum. If there’s one thing in this country that should be directly in the hands of the voters, it’s that.
Absolutely not. I’m one of the ancients who still holds to the notion that those elected are there to serve the electorate. They should earn nothing more than the median wage, thereby not losing touch with Joe Average.
