thanks. I did study under Sol Snyder, the discoverer of the opiate receptor, back in med school. That and years of field research on opiates combine to make me at least a journeyman on the subject.
In new zealand it was (is?) common for addicts to by lots of codeine medicine, extract the codeine and turn it into heroin. As the authorities got wise and started to track the chemicals needed such as pyridien, then it started to get less common.
