Painful lump on tailbone

Don’t push yourself. You don’t want that THING to come back with its mommy, vowing retribution, right?

You will have many more jerky bosses in your lifetime. Don’t let that deter you from doing the right thing. I doubt that your boss hates you, even if she acts like it. Being a boss is difficult, became they have jerky bosses, too.

Of course she did!

Hey, Blackberry! How’s your heinie these days? Just checking up on you!

Yeah, strangers on the internet want to know all about your butt.

It’s who we are.

blackberry can’t respond. She’s busy battling ants, roaches, and/or bedbugs.

Yeah, onto the next crisis, the bugs!

I’m getting better now, don’t need pain pills anymore, but I’m still taking antibiotics for a few more days and they’re making me feel really sick and I can’t wait to be done. Now the only problem is that I should probably have this thing removed so it won’t come back, but there’s no way I can take time off without my lovely boss firing me because she “doesn’t accept” employees missing days no matter what. I get a couple weeks off in December though, so maybe then.

Not to get too specific but what sort of a job is it?

Glad the pain is less.

It’s retail, a small store with just the owner and two employees who aren’t allowed to get sick.

She’s generating some seriously bad karma with an attitude like that.

Honestly, I would only consider that option if The Beast comes back. (Again, mine never has.) It is an arduous recovery process that can take a month, AIUI. I had a friend who did the surgery and she did it when she was off from grad school in the summer. I recall she spent a lot of her days on her belly. You need to have someone who can help you change the dressings, for example.

Yeah, I would really dread having the surgery anyway. The recovery sounds horrible and disgusting. But some sources say it’s very, very likely to come back. I don’t know though, I never had one for the first 31 years, and now that I know it’s a risk I’ll be more careful.

After mine, my GP told me to go see a surgeon about removing it. She examined me and determined that it didn’t need to be removed, BTW. If you want to explore the option, get the opinion of at least three surgeons first. There is a website called pilonidal.org that may have some good advice.
