Clumsy me spilled paint on the carpet, and being the ditz that I am, didn’t even realize it until the paint had already dried. It’s enamel paint, the kind that you use to paint model cars and such.
The company’s website has this to say about removing paint:
When paint has dried, solvent are not effective so don’t let enamels dry in your brush. However, some cleaners will soften the paint, try: ? #5098 Acrylic Enamel Cleaning Solution RC Thinner ? # 2018 Model Master Lacquer Thinner ? # 1419 Model Master Lacquer Thinner ? # 1159 Lacquer Thinner ? # 522142 Floquil ELO Remover 2 oz. ? # 542143 Floquil ELO Remover 8 oz. ? # 552144 Floquil ELO Remover 16 oz.
Paint thinner may not damage a paintbrush, but won’t it damage my (plush-ish, i cant remember the word for it) carpet? Can anyone think of another way to get at least some of it out or make it a little less noticable? Anyone? Please? Any wild guesses?
If yes, then hope to something that there is an extra chunk of the carpet around or some in the closet that can be spared. Make an excellent circle around the paint and make the same circle on the spare carpet. (I’d use chalk to make the circles) Cut out and toss the painted circle. Cut and glue the new circle in place. Some carpets have “nap” - one way looks different (most likely in color) than another way. Turn the circle a couple of times to be sure you haven’t messed up the nap and then glue. Use waxed paper under a couple of books to hold the circle until the glue dries.
No spare pieces? You’ve looked everywhere? (I need to practice nagging.) Then trim the spot, cut out all the paint as neatly and cleanly as you can and fluff the area with your fingers. You may find this easy to live with. Barely shows. Put lamp or stuffed dog on the spot.
Don’t use any of the products mentioned in the OP unless you can test them first on a spare piece of carpet on a place where it won’t show. You might not like the bleached white spot any better than than nice enamel color. And read the directions first!
