Paint Shop Pro 7 or is there something better in the $100 range?

I know, there’s another thread, but it doesn’t address costs much, or specifically what I want a program to do, so please bear with me.

I’m thinking of buying the full version of Paintshop pro 7. Currently, I’m using the demo version, and it does what I want- mainly, it’s a good program to edit bmps and jpgs for my sims site (www.geocities.com/simthingdifferent <–I used PSP7 for everything on the site, just about.) My skills at producing my own graphics are adaquate at best, and it seems to do what I want in that area, too.

However, I thought I’d ask people’s opinions before buying it, in case there is some program I’m not familiar with that’s in the same price range. I realize $100 isn’t much for a graphics program, but I’m not earning money from my site, and it’s just for fun.

Photoshop Elements looks like a winner, and it squeaks in at under $100. Granted, I haven’t used it yet, but all of the reviews I’ve read says it packs a lot of functionality in an easy-to-use interface.

Never saw the appeal of Paint Shop Pro, myself, but I just attribute that as a Windows thing…

I use PSP 7 all the damn time… and I love it. I’ve yet to come across a project that I couldn’t do on it (granted, the hardest stuff I try to do is simply hobby-level designing).

All other sub-$100 design programs that I’m aware of (and I freely admit that I don’t exactly have the entire list memorized) are usually aimed at photo-editing… anti-red-eye, E-Z-cropping, that sort of thing. Allowing the layman to print out their digital photos and such.
