Pakistan's nuclear war reaction time

If Curtis LeMay were in charge of India’s nuclear arsenal and they decided that it was necessary to “get” Pakistan before they got them, would Pakistan even be able to react in time before the missiles hit, given that the two countries are right next to each other? (Or the reverse situation for India?) And if they did hit in time, would India be able to disable Pakistan’s silos with the missiles it has?

I realize this question may not have a factual answer given that Pakistan’s military secrets are highly classified, but hopefully someone has made some close guesses.

  1. Pakistani missiles are all road mobile; they don’t exist in silos. Most of India weapons will be delivered via airforce, Jaguars and Mirage 2000. Unless the missiles are all caught in their bases, its unlikely the Indians will get most or even a few, the trucks will have dispersed ages earlier, if they have not already dispersed now with the increased tension.

  2. Even if India did manage to destroy most of the land based missiles, Pakistan still has air based weapons, including Air Launched Cruise Missiles, with a reported stand off range of 300 KM.

  3. If anyone is more likely to strike first its Pakistan, they made it clear the last time that they would do so if war began.
