Paleolithic diet?

Well actually its that shiny greaseproof stuff that smears crap all over your arse but dirt is good for building up the immune system.(Which is why up north they’re immune to everything up to and including the Black Death.)

I read Neanderthin a while back. It led me to eat a pretty strict Paleo diet for about a year and a half. I lost 30 lbs., also lost a lot of the joint pain I’d had, and just generally felt better.

I fell off the wagon though, alas. :frowning: A couple of reasons why:

You pretty much have to plan all your eating ahead of time. No fast food or drinks, no quick snacks (unless you want to eat dried fruit or something), no sandwiches, not much eating on the go.

Eating out is hard, unless you want meat or fish and salad. Eating with (non-Paleo-eating) friends is hard. No more pizza parties.

It’s a little bit boring, because of the (relatively) limited menu. There are, however, a ton of recipes on this page.

For the first couple of weeks, you kinda go through withdrawal, and that’s a little challenging. After that, however, you really start noticing how damned SWEET modern processed food is.

I need to go back on it.

My huz did it and had the same complaints. He lost about 40 pounds, had great energy, felt better both physically and emotionally…but just found the whole thing too hard to maintain.

He also found that if he let himself off the leash, he’d have cravings and withdrawal all over again. But then it was hard to stick to strictly too.

He’s working on a modified version of it, one that allows for more variety but still cuts back processed foods to almost nothing.

Yup, I have that problem too.

I still don’t eat much in the way of processed foods. But I’m convinced that stuff is addictive on some level. Once you start eating, it’s hard to stop.

I’m convinced that the diet is good for me, but it is not easy to adapt it to modern society.

I found that as I get older, my appetite has decreased. Thaqnk God, as I love to cook and eat and why I’m not 300 pounds is a mystery.

My advice, to hell with all kinds of crazy diet fads. Eat 1 or at most 2 small meals a day, and wash it down with 3-4 glaases of beer or wine. done deal.
