Look here people. I am going to make this quick, because I have to run, but the more I get to know Palin the more something becomes clear…

First I would like to divide the group between pro-Bush and anti-Bush. The pro-Bush people are of course going to like her, but they really are fucking brain dead as far as I’m concerned, so that’s really neither here nor there.

But oh dear Republicans that do not like Bush, why oh why do you support Sarah Palin so fervently? Why do you defend her so, when the evidence of her ineptitude continues to mount?

We’ve just barely (fingers crossed) survived having a know-nothing, everyman, President for eight years with disastrous results. He also seemed to “shoot from the hip” and “trust his gut.” How the fuck do you think things are now? Are you happy with the results?

The only conclusion that I can reach is that the Republicans think being President is like being in a fucking Jerry Bruckheimer movie where all you do is say “Let’s nuke the bastards” and then hop in a fighter-jet and fuck the “A-rabs” up.

That’s not the way the fucking world works.

Sarah Palin is obviously in the same category as Bush. It’s like being back in fucking 2001 it’s so crazy. How many of you assholes were giving Bush a break back in those days. Oh I am so sure there are PLENTY of records around here that can be produced of currently anti-Bush / pro-Palin folks complaining about the treatment Bush was getting. Guess what? We should have been MORE critical. His uninterested, unexamined life is dangerous when applied to the most powerful position in the world

Now of course the Republicans have also selected John McCain to be our next President. He’s ALSO a self-professed know-nothing who doesn’t know how to use computers, nor knows fuck-all about the economy.

Why the hell do you have such an obsession with these asshole “Cowboy Candidates?” Obviously Reagan was one of these. GWB also fit into this role. McCain isn’t so terrible, but Palin is nothing more than a female Bush.

I can understand the kneejerk reaction to defend her against the attacks she is sustaining. But just look at the situation, please. Do you really think that Bush was qualified to be President given his performance? It seriously took him about 6 years before he did anything right. Everyone was defending GWB saying he was “plenty smart” to be President. You can try to convince yourself that being Governor for 2 years and Mayor for 8ish is enough experience, but just look at what she’s saying. She didn’t know what the “Bush Doctrine” was when asked by Charles Gibson. Again, you can call it a liberal pile-on, but at which point will you realize that she simply isn’t good enough for the job? I don’t think it’s a lack of experience, I think it’s a lack of an open mind. She doesn’t really give a shit about what else is out there. She knows her opinions and that’s all she cares about.

That is what gives me nightmares.

Yes I’m aware of this. I just don’t understand how they can be so foolish as to prefer someone who has a static set of opinions and ideology. Someone who thinks they know all they need to before becoming President is a fool. It must be the job where you learn the most, and if you refuse to let this change your opinions then you’re simply too dangerous to be in power.

By way of disclosure, I’d’ve voted for Gore cheerfully, Kerry reluctantly, and I did express some pro-Iraq-invasion statements early on (more specifically, I thought the rabid anti-Bush statements had gotten out of hand). I’d’ve voted for Hillary Clinton, and would likely vote Obama (though not with any great enthusiasm).

If I was American, of course.
I’m looking forward with curiosity to your VP debate and though she will probably get clobbered by the more experienced Biden, Palin’s an interesting character and the alleged scandals about her look foolish and empty and could only get traction in a nation with a large idiot population.

I don’t know if this qualifies me as a Palin defender. If so, let me pre-emptively encourage the OP to go fuck himself with a rusty chainsaw. If not, then he should at least chill out.

Taxes, shmaxes, they’re going up. The country is in deep financial kim chee, due to eight years of fiscally responsble and hard-headed Republican rule. (Starting a ruinously expensive military adventure and putting it all on credit…that’s bold! That’s innovative! That’s batshit pizza!..)

There are times that taxes are going up, this is one of them, there’s no other option. And any politician who tells this truth has stuffed a hand grenade up his Nixon and pulled the pin.

Bush is actually an okay President now in that he’s not making shit worse. I was impressed by the Gustav mobilization (batting 500) and he’s seemed to do an okay job of picking up the pieces after fucking ruining our economy. Can you imagine if Bush 2002 were trying to figure out what the hell to do with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?

The point is that the conservatives on this board who defend her know well enough the charges against her. Yet they simply give her the benefit of the doubt.

The ones who are really excited about her are the religious-rightists, who correctly see her as one of their own on the ticket for the first time since Dan Quayle, and who are . . . well, what you said about Bush-lovers, only more so.

I’ve been paying attention to all the R’s lauding Ms. Palin, when you just know that precisely 5 seconds after her announcement as the VP candidate, the most common phrase uttered among the Republican’s nationwide was either … a) Who? or b) What the fuck?
Now, I suppose those supporting their party have to support their party and all, but come on. If Obama had selected … oh, say Governor Baldacci from my great state of Maine (and I’m sure most everybody here is saying … Who?) – you don’t think Rush Limbaugh right now wouldn’t be laughing so hard he’d spill his Oxycontin all over his coke mirror? Ann Coulter wouldn’t be masturbating with her Ronnie Reagan Memorial Vibrator? Michelle Malkin wouldn’t be digging up some spurious site linking Baldacci to Mussolini?

It would be a blood-bath … politically speaking.
