Palin defenders, are you fucking stupid?

As information has continued to dribble out, I’ve been idly thinking that “Troopergate” might yet turn out to have legs. After this latest move, I’m certain it does.

Obama supporters?

Indeed. Just think how many eager journalists, reporters, talking heads and other news purveyors harbor secret dreams of being the next Woodward and Bernstein? And now, here’s a golden opportunity on a silver platter for anyone with the brass balls to go after it.

I got to give her one thing. The reporters thick as spawning salmon up there will do wonders for the economy.

That’s not even the latest. The latest is that Lawmakers Sue to Stop ‘Troopergate’ Probe of Palin.

I don’t understand how this cannot be seen as anything other than a sign of wrongdoing, except by people that feel don’t care about anything other than if their guy or gal wins. Doesn’t honesty and disclosure mean anything to folks when considering gov’t officials?

Doesn’t matter. All they have to do is smear the bipartisan committe which is investigating it as “partisan” (it’s partisan because it has Democrats on it, not like a truly bipartisan committee comprised of only Republicans), and that’s all the political space McCain/Palin needs, at least until after the election. They’re going to play the victim card to the hilt. They’re outraged that media is even daring to ask questions about this or have the gall to investigate it. The sad thing is, it works – at least for a while. Right wing partisan fervor is literally religious. They are all good, and anyone who says different is working for Satan.

I understand what you’re saying Dio, and its almost unbelievable to me. How can people be so easily fooled? If I do something wrong, deny and have the power to maybe make an investigation be delayed (where I can have time to hide evidence or quell witnesses) or block it some way by only letting my “friends” (people with the same interests, like republicans) be the investigators, doesn’t that at the very least make me look guilty? I swear if people actually think this is a way to run government in this country, I give up. We’re all morons. (Well maybe not youi or I, because I’m not a moron)

I know that running for president involves a certain amount of shaping the truth, but the GOP isn’t even hiding the fact that somethings not right. They just spoon feed people slogans and pointless metaphors, lie, and smear opponents and no one notices? Jeezuz…the last 8 years have been a disaster for America. My grandfather was right, years ago…politics are not a job for an hionest man apparnetly. I think Obama is at least as honest as I’d like a president to be. He has done nothing to make me think otherwise. The opposition on the other hand has not…but people will still vote for them for the dumbest of reasons. Its insane and it depresses me.
…and my friends ask me why I like being in Europe better than I do the US…

Yes, we are much better off with best sellers by Michael Moore. He is the rock and truth that we all need.

Apparently while mayor of Wasilla instead of paying for rape kits, which we have now confirmed that she took action to discontinue, she treated herself to a 1997 Chevy Suburban, courtesy of the taxpayers.

Yes it is kos, but it’s properly sourced.

The way they figure, it cost 24,000 and could have bought 80 rape kits.

Just for those of you who are not from small towns. The mayor buying herself a suburban would be a HUGE deal. I come from a town of 4,000 but in the nearby town of 40,000 it would never happen.

Proper comparison would be annual town budget, not # 0f residents. Don’t know that would be significant, but just as certain pundits referred to Wasilla as “second largest city” (or whatever) vs. population, you need to compare like things with like things.

No it doesn’t matter. It’s an absolute figure. That’s 24,000 that isn’t going to be used for anything else.

This page has all of the relevant information. From a cursory glance in 1997, there was tax revenue of 4.7 million dollars.

Again, if she was too cheap to buy rape kits for the 5-odd rapes per year, she can buy her own transportation. Not to mention charging per-diems for staying at home.

Great job. Any evidence in there? Any at all? Please stop it with the Daily Kos.

I told you the kos story was cited. Couldn’t be bothered to click on the story by the times?

Oh right, I forgot, the New York Times isn’t as reputable as instapundit and newsbusters

I’m thinkin’ more Scott McClellan and Ron Suskind, myself. Michael Moore’s too excitable.

The rejection of rape kits was due to the fact that they included info on the morning after pill, which would stop 80 % of the pregnancies the rape could have started. She believes that even in rape a child must not be stopped. She sees the morning after as abortion. She is a nut that wants her beliefs to become law. ( I read that yesterday) But, it was not about money.

I’m not sure I understand you here. As far as I can tell, DailyKos is a multi-author blog, like the Corner at National Review, or even like Language Log. To assert that the whole of one is untrustworthy is kind of ridiculous. This is especially true considering the nature of a blog itself, namely, that no intelligent reader takes any blog entry at face value. One must consider the author as well as the sources cited. This is why Merkwurdigliebe said it was “properly sourced.” Do you take issue with those sources?
