Palin Resigns as Gov? WTF?

Fox News Contributor Rips Into Palin: "The Woman Is Inarticulate, Undereducated" (VIDEO) | HuffPost Latest News It is not the horrible mean spirited Lefties who are bringing her down. Her own party pols are killing her. Her prima donna attitude is pissing off the party regulars. They will not stand in line placidly while she kills the rest of the party’s future. Stories about her crappy attitude were put out by her handlers in the presidential campaign. She did not need the dems to get pulled down. She is a joke.

We’re not talking about everybody, dude - we’re talking about Sarah Palin. Who, on most matters of policy, is 99.44% ignorant, and has little interest in rectifying that.

Evidence to the contrary is welcomed.

Oh yeah, Palin doesn’t “constitute the vast majority,” either. She’s just one citizen out of 300 million.

Keep in mind that someone (Newt Gingrich?) said that the Republicans wouldn’t be the ones that would bring Obama down; it’d be the Democrats.

Both could end up being correct.

I think you miss the point. Most of us would not find the fact that half of the population disagrees with us, or even thinks badly of us, to be reason to “self assess”. Palin is in this aspect at least not much different than the rest of us, each pretty confident that we are right and that those who disagree are wrong. Sure, some like her are more smug about it than others, some don’t know enough to know how little they know as they say, but most of us are willing to dismiss even a vast majority who disagree with us. “Truth” is not a popularity contest afterall.

I think we broke her. :frowning:

But I also think she was already cracked when she showed up.

Oddly enough, according to NewsMax, a solidly right-wing news and opinion site, you may be correct. There’s a devastating article there about her, featuring such observations as:

Wow. When NewsMax – News freaking Max! – weighs in like this, you know she’s toast politically.

But being current governor of Alaska is something, whether or not you’re interested in Alaska politics. Once you’re “on the map”, then people are interested in other aspects of your personality and opinions on other subjects as well. Being a former 2 1/2 year governor of Alaska is a lot less, and as time goes on that brief governorship will recede further and further into the background.

I’m not saying she falls off the map completely - she’s a part of history as vice-presidential candidate, but she is going to be diminished more and more as time goes on, and her stature was pretty shaky to begin with.

Here’s an eye-opener from Palin’s “personal lawyer” (from here):

Whew! Good thing being President isn’t a full-time job that lasts more than two and a half years!

I’ve kept cans of solid packed tuna on my* kitchen shelves* for longer than two and a half years!

Just be glad that Palin decided to be a governor, instead of firefighter, pilot or brain surgeon.

Well, be fair – the required qualifications are a lot lower for governor, after all.

Heh, and it’s more like she has been “ON CALL” for emergencies only for the past year.

No, I think I’m getting his point quite well. What I hear begbert saying is that almost everyone dismisses opposing ideas without ever engaging with them, and our dismissal of Palin, as merely one for-instance of that, is as meaningless as all the others.

I’m calling bullshit on that.

Here’s some good/“news” on her future plans:

I thought it was common knowledge. She will be getting a program on FOX.

This just in: Adolf Hitler comments on Palin’s resignation. (He is NOT happy about it.)

That is A common assumption, but neither she nor FOX nor anyone else with first-hand or even second-hand knowledge has said so.

No, that’s the opposite of the point. Begbert was responding to Onomatopoeia:

saying that it’s actually quite easy for most people to ignore naysayers, and that therefore he, begbert, would not predict that Palin will reassess her own actions or positions as a result of recent criticisms.

Among the GOP? (Grumpy Old Patriarchs) Are you kidding? They’d EAT IT UP!

Just a quick Wiki check makes it look as if that’s incorrect. She was on the Wasilla city council from 1992-1996. She was elected mayor in 1996 and it seems as if she served out two complete three-year terms.
