Well, I gathered all the palindromes, transferred them to a spreadsheet, sorted them by length (in terms of numbers of letters used), eliminated duplicates, cleaned up typos, etc.

For those who just can’t get enough palindromic words, a couple years ago the Palindromicon 2 was published with over 4000 of them. Send orders to Word Ways (Yes, I’m one of the authors. But it was a labor of love since I don’t get anything for it.)
It’s hard to say what my favorite palindrome is. Perhaps gipsy’s pig, a slang term for the hedgehog and which is found in the OED. But I’m also partial to rood-door, a door in or near the rood in a medieval church.
