Palin's still got it.

Personally, I woulda guessed GW, both times.

Unfortunately, in the US we have dragged our government so low that no one who could* do *the job would even consider taking the job.

More like “Fuck off, moron”, but the specifics don’t really matter - he’s embarassing all right. I considered making that point when **clairobscur **first stated “we don’t have idiots here”, but I was afraid it’d turn into a battle on French politics. We certainly have Sarkozy fans as rabid and facts-twisting as any of Bush’s cohorts…

On the other hand, say what you will about Le Pen and what he stands for, but the guy *is *very charismatic and politically savvy. Plays the crowds and the media like a cheap fiddle. Thankfully, his daughter isn’t, so there’s hope for a less disgraceful future yet.

Bingo.
As far as VPs go, there’s also Dan Quayle, bless his little heart.

“I’m only a poor corrupt official.”

With the latest news out of Anchorage/Juneau, it seems to me that Palin is sliding in behind Blagoyevich on her own bed of slime. Inexperience aside, their (ab)use of the Governor’s office is reinforcing the image of “Wasilla rednecks” occupying the Governor’s Mansion. And I’m from Kentucky, where Ernie Fletcher did wonders for the Republican party while Governor.

Vlad/Igor

I have never doubted that Palin would have been just as competent at the job of VPotUS as Dan Quayle was.

Yes, I am well aware that this is not a high standard to meet.

A bit touchy today, aren’t you?

Dude, that’s harsh! Quayle was way more qualified for the job than Palin! At least Quayle had two degrees and had more experience in government than Palin. He might have been a drooling fuckwit, but even he was a better choice than Palin. (How sad is that? Palin couldn’t even rise to the same pathetic standard as Dan “I bet the kids would love this totem figurine with the giant wang” Quayle.)

Just bustin’ yer chops a little, Slim. Strictly recreational.

I wasn’t aware of Dan Quayle’s credentials. That’s my new fact for the day.

I still think that McCain, in the third debate, made a good case for Palin being well qualified to be undersecretary of Energy for the petroleum industry.

I would welcome her continued bumbling as (one hopes) ensuring that she’s marginalized, but for people who like her, she does still have it. I hope someone in the Republican party comes to their senses and discards forever the notion of making her (or letting her become) their standard bearer.

My point in not dismissing SP as an idiot is that she has supporters who also likewise cannot be dismissed as idiots. Intelligent, reasonable, responsible people who I know – and not just one or two – think she was a great candidate and amply qualified, and that she’s the victim of a media hitjob or (to use a word these folks had probably never uttered or taken seriously until now) “sexism.”

Why? Because anger, and despair over losing, warp judgment I think. These people still want to complain about ACORN and how Obama got bogus votes and illicit campaign contributions (which I’m sure he did), over whether SP’s three weeks as governor of a tiny state is no worse as far as executive experience than BHO’s two weeks in the Senate (arguably also true), over the media over-publicizing Bristol’s actual preganancy and falsely suggesting that Trigg was the product of a covert Bristol pregnancy (true, but that does not render SP more qualilfied). How does any of that matter, when you know that BHO won by five million votes (IIRC), and that SP did not succeed in salvaging the game, and may well have done damage?

Who’s Sarah Palin?

You are such a pistel!

She’s the most important Republican in the country. If you don’t believe it, just ask her.

There’s a new biopic out about her – read all about Who’s Nailin Palin.

deleted.

If there’s one word you don’t want to spell incorrectly when Gaudere is looking . . .

Love the picture. Did you notice how the viola section is looking down at her pants and making “WTF?” faces?

I just wondered how you knew about the modem…?

Those young ladies are cellists. A viola is larger than a violin, but not so large that you have to hold it between your knees.
